Megan & Dave’s Mountain Reserve Wedding

Megan and Dave decided to tie the knot at the no less than spectacular Pat Busch Mountain Reserve. We absolutely love catering for weddings at this special spot! Not only did we celebrate our wedding day there too, but the sheer expanse of the area, with its many different pockets of natural beauty, offer brides and grooms with so many different options and settings for their special day.

A Wedding Menu Inspired

Megan and Dave took full advantage of the beauty that Pat Busch offers. We worked together on a menu that not only complimented the Robertson location – being at the heart of the route 62 wine route – but that also drew inspiration from the warm North African and Mediterranean climate, to offer a tasty twist on their summer wedding menu.

Starters

For pre-drinks, the couple opted for a fine display of cheeses and preserves, which included local cheddar, creamy gorgonzola, brie, camembert, and the firm favourite of the day – a cumin Boerenkaas. The preserves and other treats included homemade vanilla poached pears and red onion marmalade, glazed green figs (which the bees seemed to enjoy as much as the guests), toasted nuts, biltong and smoked olives. This spread was set up under the old oak tree, offering guests a view of the tented reception area under the dramatic backdrop of the Swartberg Mountains.

Mains

A buffet feast was the order of the day. Dave and Megan opted for a classic de-boned leg of roasted lamb infused with rosemary and garlic, and a Moroccan style chicken, marinaded in a homemade harissa spice and double cream yoghurt. The sides included onion marmalade and feta baby potatoes, Spanish rice with chorizo, and roasted seasonal vegetables with exotic mixed tomatoes and parmasan shavings, which offered a bright display of colour to the overall spread.

Desserts

Can you ever go wrong with chocolate brownies, vanilla pod dairy ice cream and a mixed summer fruit salad? The answer is no! To top it off, the bride and groom were gifted a beautiful wedding cake by a relative. Overall, it was an impressive spread to finish off a remarkably beautiful wedding.

And What Did the Bride Think?

Matt and his team really went over and above for our wedding, the food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavour and the presentation was outstanding!

We chose to have a bread, cheese & preserve table during predrinks, this was by far the best I had ever seen at any wedding, from the layout, to the variety of choices, the guests absolutely loved it!

For the mains we opted for buffet style – again, it was out of this world! The food was cooked to perfection, the roasted veggies were my favourite! The chicken was moist and flavourful, the lamb tender and just divine!

Oh and the chocolate brownies are no doubt the best in town! Matt and his team were phenomenal, from the service to the taste, top class! I would recommend them hands down, they went beyond our expectations!

Thanks guys for making my wedding a dream come true!
